US intelligence confirms that Russian tactical nuclear weapons have already been deployed on the territory of Belarus. This is reported by CNN with reference to unnamed high-ranking officials.

There's no reason to doubt it," the publication quotes representatives of the intelligence community.

They added that Lukashenko probably has no control over nuclear weapons and they remain under the control of the Russians. Also, the intelligence did not rule out that old Soviet facilities are used for its storage in Belarus.

It is unknown exactly how many nuclear charges will be placed in Belarus.

Putin previously announced that nuclear tactical weapons were already in Belarus last month. The West has not yet confirmed - or denied this information.

It should be noted that the transfer of weapons under Minsk's control would be a violation of Russia's obligations under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
