Russia switches ZNPP fourth power unit to cold mode

During the operation of the fourth unit of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, the plant's personnel found signs of non-density of the pipe part of the steam generator number 3. This is reported by the Russian media.

To ensure that the autumn-winter period passed reliably and the equipment remained in good condition, it was decided to transfer the reactor of the power unit to the state of "cold shutdown", - the report says.

It is specified that in order to ensure steam auxiliary needs of Zaporizhzhya NPP the issue of transferring the power unit number 6 to the state of "hot shutdown" is under consideration.

ZNPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, has six VVER-1000 power units.

Now two power units are under repair, three are in cold mode, and one is in hot shutdown mode to meet the plant's own needs.
