Putin is encouraged to reach out via Zoom from Moscow.

This was reported by the Sunday Times.

South Africa is the host country of the summit of emerging economies. It includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa itself.

South Africa is, however, a signatory to the Rome Statute, which obliges it to implement the decisions of the International Criminal Court.

It is worth recalling that the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Putin for forcibly deporting Ukrainian children from Russian-occupied territory.

At the same time, South Africa neither supported sanctions against Russia nor condemned its aggression against Ukraine.

South Africa said it saw no other way to solve the problem than that Putin should not come to the country, but rather reach out via Zoom from Moscow.

Otherwise law enforcers will be forced to arrest him.
