Putin is likely to be re-elected for another term as president, the diplomat said.

There are no visible signs that Russian President Vladimir Putin has any health problems that would prevent him from working, so he is likely to be re-elected and run the country for another six years. German Ambassador to Russia Alexander Graf Lambsdorf said this, Tagesschau reports.

He added that Russian politicians do not intend to change their attitude towards the war, have no plans for a dialogue on peace and are determined to continue fighting.

Putin has only confirmed his military goals, he is not ready for negotiations at all," Lambsdorf pointed out.

The diplomat stressed that the Kremlin has managed to build a system in which all Russians are involved and become "accomplices" of all the Kremlin's plans.

All the talk that Vladimir Putin "may not be at his best" is not confirmed by anything, so he will continue to rule the country for the next 6 years, if elected president. This is at least until 2030," the diplomat believes.

Lambsdorf also assessed the sanctions imposed against Putin's regime. In the opinion of the FRG representative, they are extremely effective, although it "hasn't switched off the lights to Moscow".

You cannot turn on sanctions and at the same time change the behaviour of the party against which sanctions have been imposed," the German ambassador to Russia said.
