Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin has resigned along with the government

While the new government is being formed, Sanna Marin will continue to perform her duties.
This was reported by Finnish broadcaster Yle.
Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin has tendered her resignation to President Sauli Niinisto. The ceremony took place at the official residence of the Finnish President on Thursday morning.
Dear President of the Republic, I respectfully ask you to dismiss me and the other members of the Government Council.
The resignation stems from the fact that elections were held in the country, in which the Marin-led Social Democrats came in only third place.
President Niinistö has accepted the resignation request. Until a new government is formed, the previous one will continue to perform its duties.
Petteri Orpo, chairman of the National Coalition Party, which won the election, will begin consultations on forming a government next week.
