Poland intends to wall off Russia with a fence

Poland will start building a wall that will increase security on its border with Russia.
Poland will build a fence "along the entire length of the border with the Königsberg region, the former Kaliningrad region" to protect it from Russia. This was announced by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in an interview with Radio Olsztyn on Friday, 15 September.
He noted that first of all an electronic system of border defence will be created, but after some time a "physical barrier" will appear on the border.
Over time, we will create an appropriate physical barrier at individual sections, and finally along the entire length of the border with the Königsberg region - the former Kaliningrad region," the prime minister said.
According to the Ministry of Interior and Administration, all works should be completed at the turn of September-October.
Poland's border with Russia is 232 kilometres long
We would like to add that the territory of the Kaliningrad region has been occupied by Russia since 1945. The region historically belonged to Prussia and Poland. After World War II, the northern part of East Prussia (about one third of its territory) was transferred to the Soviet Union, the remaining two thirds - to the Polish People's Republic. In 1946, the Königsberg Oblast was established on the territory ceded to the USSR, and in the same year Königsberg was renamed Kaliningrad.
