Law enforcers detained the figurehead while trying to destroy the 13th vehicle, - reports the press service of the National police of Ukraine.

At the end of 2022 to the police began to receive reports of arson of cars on different streets of Desnyansky district of Kiev.

According to the head of the capital's chief department Dmytro Shumeiko, investigators, operatives of the department of criminal investigation and criminal analysis of the Kiev police, as well as specialists of the criminal police departments of the National Police, etc. immediately joined in the identification and search for the perpetrator:

More than a thousand people were questioned as witnesses, dozens of people were worked on promptly, hundreds of GB of video were analysed. The search was complicated by the fact that the arsons were committed during the period of power outages and street lighting during enemy shelling of the city. It was established that all the users of the vehicles were military and Defence Force personnel. Therefore, in addition to conducting covert investigative and search operations, police officers with the participation of the SBU conducted counterintelligence activities," Shumeiko said.

For some time the attacker stopped, but already in July this year he set fire to several cars of servicemen. Investigators continued their work all this time:

Having collected information, having analysed a large amount of information and conclusions of experts, we came to a 35-year-old local resident, who moved to the city of Kiev from another region in 2014, - said the head of the police in Kiev.

The figure was unmasked while planting an incendiary device in another military vehicle.
