Patron dog taught mine safety to Zaporizhzhya residents (video)

Jack Russell Terrier Patron is one of 14 mine-search dogs that help Ukrainian rescuers clear landmines.
A famous dog Patron together with the State Emergency Situations Service rescuers held an information session on mine safety in Zaporizhzhya. This was reported by RIA Pivden on 4 April.
The commander of the unit Mikhail Ilyev, where Patron performs tasks, told about the difficulties of the work.
On the road the sapper may have anti-personnel mines, stretch marks, cluster munitions that have not worked. Therefore, the sapper's vision works at 360 degrees, you need to feel all the sounds of the metal detector. No one knows where the "surprise" is waiting, at what depth and what threat, - said the head of the part of pyrotechnic works, underwater and humanitarian demining of the State Emergency Service of Chernihiv region Mikhail Ilyev.
Little Patron is not afraid of the difficulties of hard and important work, always helps except for one exception:
Our little fellow with us constantly works in a team and with the help of a sensitive sense of smell he searches out explosive devices in those places where his work is allowed. When we work in forest areas, where there may be stretch marks, he does not work. Because it is necessary to work visually on stretchers, and the dog can not feel them.
On the territory of Chernigov region Patron helped in neutralisation of more than 60 thousand explosive objects.
We had to work under enemy air raids and under the fire of rocket artillery. Patron, a Jack Russell Terrier, is one of 14 mine detection dogs that help Ukrainian rescuers clear mines.
