Ukraine and the UN have agreed on humanitarian aid and the evacuation of people affected by the destruction of the Kakhovska hydroelectric power plant from the occupied part of Kherson Region.

The main condition of the UN is to ensure safe passage to the occupied territories from the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Today, June 8, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba met with the UN System Coordinator in Ukraine, Humanitarian Coordinator Denise Brown. The topic of discussion was the humanitarian consequences of the Russian terrorist attack on the Kakhovskaya HPP.

The Ukrainian side noted that the UN has been sending humanitarian aid to the affected territories. At the same time, it was noted that the scale of destruction and suffering inflicted on citizens and animals requires a qualitatively different response. Following the results of the meeting, it was agreed that the UN will urgently increase the amount of aid and send additional forces to Kherson and other affected areas," it was reported.

The parties also agreed that the UN will send humanitarian aid and evacuate civilians, provided they have safe passage to the occupied territories. UN representatives will go to the left bank of Kherson as soon as Russia provides access and security guarantees.

We shall remind you that the Russians blew up a dam at the Kakhovska hydroelectric power plant, which resulted in flooding of several settlements. Also, the occupiers do not evacuate civilians and sometimes block evacuations.
