One day of blockade of the Ukrainian border by Polish hauliers costs companies about 1m hryvnias.

This was reported by the European Business Association (EBA).

The EBA conducted an express survey among 55 member companies to determine how their work was affected by the strike at the Ukrainian-Polish border, which started on 6 November.

Thus, it turned out that one company loses on average about UAH 1 million per day of downtime.

The total amount of losses of companies for the entire downtime amounted to at least UAH 305.88 million.

At the same time, both importers and exporters suffer, as 49% of companies import products to Ukraine. At the same time, 25% of goods are sent to Poland, 15% - to Germany, as well as to other Baltic States, Western Europe, USA, Canada, Asian and African countries, - the results of the study said.

In addition, the strike increases transport costs, which affects the cost of production and price competitiveness of companies. Due to the change of routes, queues at the Slovak and Hungarian borders are increasing.

Business representatives are already reporting transport shortages. This is partly due to the fact that carriers are refusing orders.

Failure to meet obligations to Ukrainian and foreign customers will result in penalties from customers, cancellation of further orders and loss of customers. The inability to import necessary raw materials or components creates risks for Ukrainian production facilities," the EBA added.

All this affects Ukrainians' access to necessary goods and the smooth operation of enterprises.
