Occupiers leaving Kherson: details

The "evacuation" of residents of Kherson to the left bank has been underway for the past few weeks. Now the occupiers have decided to abandon the city.

This was reported by the Dozhd TV channel.

The commander of the combined group of troops, Sergey Surovikin, has proposed "to take up defence on the left bank of the Dnieper river in Kherson Region.

I understand that this is a very difficult decision. At the same time we will save lives of our servicemen and combat readiness of the troops. Keeping them on the right bank is futile," Surovikin said.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu agreed.

Surovikin said more than 115,000 people have been evacuated from the right bank, but the threat of flooding and water spills remains due to the shelling of the dam.
