The problem in Russia and Belarus.

Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto said this, as quoted by Finnish broadcaster Yle.

The bottom line is that Estonia is to chair the OSCE in 2024. However, neither Russia nor Belarus want to vote for that country.

The OSCE chairmanship is rotating. According to the rules, the new chairmanship is approved by all 57 member states.

Estonia is not ready to give up its position either.

Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto believes that such a situation could threaten the disintegration of the OSCE.

If there is no chairmanship and no consensus in 2024, next year will be the year of destruction of the OSCE as an organisation.

It is worth noting that Russia stopped paying its dues back in 2023. At the same time, the terrorist country Russia still has the right to veto any decision.
