A student robbed a AFU collection box because there wasn't enough money for entertainment.

An indictment against a student of a Kyiv university who robbed a box to collect money for the Ukrainian Armed Forces has been sent to court. This was reported by the Kyiv police on 15 May.

The event took place at the end of February 2024. A young man in a restaurant of Andriyivskyi descent took advantage of the absence of nearby staff and stole from the box about 500 hryvnias, which visitors to the institution left as assistance for the needs of the AFU.

The police tracked down and detained the suspect. A 20-year-old student of a Kyiv university explained his act by citing a lack of money for entertainment.

Investigators informed the young man of suspicion under part 4 of article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - theft committed under martial law.

The pre-trial investigation has been completed, and the indictment has been sent to court. The offender faces up to eight years of imprisonment.

Earlier, Socportal reported that in Kyiv, the attacker arranged a meeting with a girl, took away her personal belongings and fled. He faces up to ten years in prison.
