The Association of Ukrainian Cities reported on the number of captured mayors and village heads

In Russian captivity are city, rural and settlement heads from the Kherson, Zaporozhye and Kharkov regions.



Eight city, rural and settlement heads remain in captivity of the Russian invaders. It is reported by the Association of cities of Ukraine.

Among the captured local government officials as of July 2:

  • Evgeniy Matveev - Dneprorudnensky mayor (Zaporozhye region);
  • Alexander Shmygol - Olkhovsky rural head (Kharkiv region);
  • Alexander Babich - Golopristansky mayor (Kherson region);
  • Igor Kolykhaev - Kherson mayor (Kherson region);
  • Valentina Kostenko - Velikokopanovsky rural head (Kherson region);
  • Dmitry Lyakhno - Gornostaevsky settlement head (Kherson region);
  • Sergey Khilchenko - Khrestovsky rural head (Kherson region);
  • Peter Zbarovsky - Novotroitsky settlement head (Kherson region);

They also noted that the information about the release of the Golopristan mayor Alexander Babich from captivity was not confirmed.

The Association of Ukrainian Cities continues to appeal to international organizations for the protection of OMS officials captured by the Russian aggressor and calls on everyone to join in their release.
