More than 2,400 children from six to 17 years old were taken out of Ukraine from the full-scale invasion. They were placed in 13 institutions across Belarus.

This was stated in a study by Yale University, Reuters reported.

According to Yale University, children were taken from 17 cities in Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions of Ukraine. Researchers identified more than 2,000 children taken to the Dubrava children's centre in the Minsk region of Belarus during September 2022 to May 2023. An additional 392 children were taken to 12 other facilities.

Belarus facilitated Russia's systematic efforts to identify, collect, transport and re-educate Ukrainian children," the report said.

According to the researchers, the Russian Federation co-operates with Belarus to coordinate and finance the movement of Ukrainian children.

The transport to Belarus via Russian territory was "finally coordinated" between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko, the study added.

It is noted that it is impossible to identify the number of Ukrainian children who remain in Belarus.
