Mobilisation in Ukraine: how many men in the country can be drafted into the AFU

Lidiya Tkachenko, a senior researcher at the Institute of Demography and Social Research, estimates that just over 31 million people live in the Ukrainian-controlled territories.
However, there is no exact data, as there are several sources giving different estimates.
As for the mobilisation resource, according to Tkachenko, there are different estimates regarding the number of men of conscription age (from 25 to 60 years old). Depending on the sources, the figures vary from 2-3 to 5 million people.
"They can be drafted from the age of 14"
Dmytro Korchynskyy, a public figure and founder of the Brotherhood battalion, admits that in case of a threat to destroy the country, the mobilisation age may be significantly lowered, down to 14 years of age. He mentions examples of Central African countries, where children as young as 12-14 years old can be involved in military operations. However, Korchynskyy stressed that despite such a scenario, Ukraine still has significant mobilisation reserves among men over the age of 25.
Korchynskyy also noted that in the situation of the greatest threat to the country, all citizens - men, women, elderly people and even teenagers - can be involved in the defence of the state. He urged Ukrainian citizens to remember that slavery is worse than war and emphasised the importance of everyone's readiness to fight for their country.
Thus, as long as Ukraine has mobilisation reserves among men of conscription age, extreme measures such as lowering the mobilisation age are not required.
