The International Committee of the Red Cross has officially granted Kherson mayor Ihor Kolykhaev the status of a prisoner of war. This was reported by Suspilne with reference to the mayor's son, Svyatoslav Kolykhaev.
I contacted the Red Cross, and I was told that the Russian side submitted my father Igor Kolykhaev to the list of prisoners, and he is on the territory of the Russian Federation. Where exactly and the state of his health - they did not inform me. Also updated his status in the personal coordination office of the headquarters, - said Svyatoslav.
For a long time the mayor was considered missing.
Igor Kolykhaev after the invasion of the Russians in Kherson remained in the city and continued to work. on 25 April 2022, Russian invaders seized the building of the Kherson City Council. He remained in Kherson and said that he was fulfilling his duty to his constituents.
