Marchenko said the partners were starting to "get tired"

It is becoming more difficult to receive international financial assistance and Kiev has to make efforts to keep it at the proper level. This was stated by Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko, Reuters reported.

It is becoming more difficult for Ukraine to receive financial aid from partner countries as officials from key donor countries are increasingly focused on the upcoming elections. In addition, geopolitical tensions are rising," he said.

He pointed out that the slowdown in financial flows is influenced by "geopolitical changes and the domestic political context in different countries."

Marchenko noted that many countries are focused on their own elections, besides, elementary fatigue has accumulated.

I see a lot of fatigue, I see a lot of weakness among our partners, they would like to forget about the war, but the war is still going on, a full-scale war," Marchenko stressed.

According to him, this week's financial aid negotiations were affected by the conflict between Israel and Hamas - the war broke out at the moment when Ukrainian delegates were travelling to Marrakech.

At the same time, he pointed out that Ukraine was not alone in facing financial problems.

We already have certain commitments, for example, 5.4bn dollars under the IMF programme, we expect commitments from Japan and the UK, and, of course, we count on our key partners and allies - the USA and the EU," Marchenko added.

He pointed out that the EU is working on a 50 billion euro ($52.6 billion) aid package for Ukraine for 2024-2027. Marchenko said that Ukraine is asking for 18bn euros of this in 2024.
