Kuleba said that Scholz had aroused admiration in the hearts of Ukrainians

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has reaffirmed his country's leadership at the European Union leaders' summit.
Ukrainians are grateful to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for the position he took during the summit of European Union leaders regarding Ukraine's membership in the EU. Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said this in an interview with Bild.
What German Chancellor Olaf Scholz did at the summit to override Hungary's veto threat will go down in history as an act of German leadership in the interests of Europe. This week, the Chancellor earned a great deal of sincere and well-deserved admiration in the hearts of Ukrainians," he said.
Kuleba recalled that not so long ago Germany was not willing to take the lead in the issue of Ukraine's membership in the EU and was not in favour of Ukraine's European integration.
The Foreign Minister emphasised that he was glad that Germany's position towards Ukraine had changed and thanked the country's leadership.
We have many reasons to be grateful to Germany, from military assistance to financial support, but political clarity on Ukraine's membership in the EU is probably the best Christmas present from Berlin. Grey areas in Europe are no longer possible. Either paint the map of Europe in the colours of the EU to guarantee security and prosperity for all Europeans, or Putin will paint it with blood and bring more suffering, instability and destruction," Kuleba added.
We shall remind you that the European Council on 14 December, supported the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU.
