The Kremlin is preparing for a protracted war and increasing spending on the army

Russia intends to increase spending on defence enterprises by a third.
Russia is preparing for a multi-year war with Ukraine and is stepping up financing of weapons programmes. This is stated in the daily report of the UK Defence Ministry.
According to the British defence ministry, in 2024, the Kremlin intends to spend a third of its budget revenues on war.
Documents, presumably belonging to the Russian Ministry of Finance, indicate that its defence spending should grow to about 30% of total state spending in 2024 - reported the British Ministry of Defence with reference to intelligence data.
It is noted that Russia's defence budget will be 10.8 trillion rubles, which is about 6% of GDP and it will be increased by 68% compared to 2023.
Full information about Russian defence spending is always classified, but these figures show that Russia is preparing for the next years of fighting in Ukraine," the department pointed out.
It added that this came after Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoygu said that Russia would be able to fight in Ukraine until 2025.
