The Kaliningrad region is historically Polish territory, which is currently under Russian occupation.

The Polish general, ex-commander of the ground forces, Waldemar Skshipchak, said that the Kaliningrad region is under Russian occupation and that Poland should "claim its rights." It is reported by Do Rzeczy.

It is worth raising the issue of Kaliningrad, which, in my opinion, is the territory of Poland,” he said.

The general initially stated that the Kaliningrad region was a territory "under Russian occupation since 1945." After that, he emphasized that this territory had never been Russian, but historically belonged to Prussia and Poland.

Now it was necessary to claim their rights to it, as it was before with the reclaimed territories. Perhaps it is worth claiming this Kaliningrad district, which, in my opinion, is part of the territory of Poland. We have the right to have claims to the territory occupied by Russia, - said Skshipchak.

At the same time, Skshipchak added that today the Kaliningrad region "has no military significance."

The Russian Federation has already reacted to the statements of the Polish general - Federation Council Speaker Konstantin Kosachev said that Waldemar Skshipchak "took all the lessons of history."

At the end of January 2018, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that infrastructure had been created in the Kaliningrad region to accommodate the operational-tactical missile systems (OTRK) Iskander.
