The problem of veterans who have invalidity will only deepen, so the authorities need to think about how to solve it right now

In the Kiev region , the construction of an uniquely exclusive inclusive settlement for soldiers who defended Ukraine is being completed. This is the first and unfortunately the only complex of this type in the country.

According to the information of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration (KOVA), the municipality includes 56 buildings, where all conditions for comfortable living, comfortable accommodation and licences have been created. Seventeen housing certificates have already been handed over to veterans and families of fallen soldiers,

Construction works in the township are at the final stage. The buildings are already being renovated, kitchen furniture is being installed and bathrooms are being furnished.

The handover of the keys to the new housing is scheduled for the end of September 2024. The housing will be handed over to the servicemen for ownership, and now the necessary documents are being drawn up.

It should be noted that the creation of a township of 56 buildings is a good example, but it does not solve the problem, but only reinforces it. As of Berezny 2024, it was known that since the beginning of the war in Ukraine the number of people with invalidity has increased by 300 thousand. There is still no data, but it is obvious that they are becoming even more.

Unfortunately, for 50% of the Ukrainian society people with disabilities remain invisible. Only a quarter of respondents say that they see them in public places. The key reasons are that the society simply does not notice them, besides, there are significant problems when travelling around the cities of the country, which are simply not designed for barrier-free movement of people with disabilities.

In total, there are 3 million people with disabilities in Ukraine.
