The Ukrainians lived with the British woman under one roof for the first year and a half.

British pensioner Jenny Penn-Barwell took a mortgage loan to buy a house for a family of Ukrainian refugees from the Kiev region. About it writes BBC.

As the agency says, the woman sheltered in her house a mother with two daughters, who found themselves in Britain after the invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. Before that, the mother Oksana and her two daughters Elena and Yara used to live in the north of the Kiev region. The woman and her children left Ukraine in 2022. The father of the daughters went to the front.

For a year and a half, the Ukrainians lived under the same roof with Jenny. However, then the woman decided that it would be more comfortable for them to live independently, so she took a mortgage loan to buy a house, which she now rents to Oksana.

Jenny explained that this decision was prompted by the idea that Ukranian women need their own space.

We weren't too tight, we weren't fighting or anything like that, absolutely not, but I realised that they needed their own home. They wanted to find a place to rent and I thought if I could do something, I should do it - I could, so I did.I'm not a very rich woman, not at all, I have a pension from the NHS, but you know, if you don't need anything, why not do something useful?" the woman said.

According to the BBC, the Ukrainians have been living in their home for six months.

Oksana said that Jenny's act was very important for her and her daughters, because she no longer has to run anywhere.

I felt like I was running, running, running and finally stopped. I just relax and let my daughters do what they want and fulfil their dreams. I try to work as much as I can, try to take more hours and try to be helpful," Oksana said.

The BBC points out that Elena and Yara are now preparing for exams at school.

The family is very grateful to Jenny and they call her grandma.

Oksana admitted that she misses Ukraine, but says she is happy about what is happening in her life because her daughters feel happy.
