The Chief of the General Staff of the Belarusian Armed Forces stated that non-strategic nuclear weapons would be used if the sovereignty and independence of Belarus were threatened.

The Belarusian Army has learnt to handle non-strategic nuclear weapons and will use them in case of a threat to the country's sovereignty and independence. This was stated by the chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus, Major General Pavel Muraveika.

Weapons are expensive toys, which transnational corporations, manufacturers are very eager to play with. This is why wars are unleashed, so that one could further build up and develop the military-industrial complex. Militarisation has been created artificially," Muraveiko said.

He pointed out that "a bogeyman has been painted in the form of the Russian Federation, which allegedly threatens the Baltic States, allegedly threatens Poland, allegedly wants to return to the pre-Potsdam distribution of territories".

We have a wise leader. We have a quite adequate policy, which allows us not to go to extremes and rush to militarisation. Here again, it's comprehensiveness. This is diplomacy - building relations with various countries and organisations," said the general.

According to him, in a few days Belarus will become a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.

The Belarusian general said that Poland, in his opinion, wants to prevent this "or, at any rate, to throw a spoonful of tar into that jar of honey, which has been built today."

One of the last arguments and theses that act as a deterrent is the return of non-strategic nuclear weapons to our country. We have learnt how to handle these weapons. We know how to use them confidently. We are capable of doing so. And you can rest assured: we will do it if the sovereignty and independence of our country is threatened," Muraveiko said.

Earlier, Socialportal reported that Minsk said that Kiev was allegedly pulling troops to the northern border and trying to "drag Belarus into a war.
