Ilya Kiva was sentenced by the court

On 13 November, Lviv 's Lychakivskyy court passed a guilty verdict in the case of former MP Ilya Kiva from the OPZZh. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison with confiscation of property. This was reported by the Lychakiv district court of Lviv.

The court found the accused guilty of committing criminal offences under:

• ч. 3 Art.109 (public calls for violent change and overthrow of the constitutional order and seizure of state power by a person who is a representative of power, using mass media),
• ч. 1 of article 111(treason, i.e. an act deliberately committed by a citizen of Ukraine to the detriment of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability, defence capacity, State, economic or information security of Ukraine by providing assistance to a foreign State in carrying out subversive activities against Ukraine),
• ч. 2 of Art. 436-1 (public use of symbols of the communist totalitarian regime committed by a person who is a representative of the authorities),
• art. 436 (public calls for aggressive war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The court sentenced Ilya Kiva to 14 years' imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Consideration of criminal proceedings was carried out in the form of special judicial proceedings in the absence of the accused (in absentia), because the latter is hiding from the investigation and court in the territory of the state recognised by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine as an aggressor state, namely: in the territory of the Russian Federation, as well as declared in the international wanted list, - stated in the message of the court.

It is reported that in a few days with the text of the court verdict will be available in the Unified state register of court decisions: Case No. 463/3310/22

The court verdict within thirty days from the date of its announcement can be appealed to the Lviv Court of Appeal.
