How to keep the skin around your eyes young: basic steps and healthy habits

The skin around the eyes is one of the most delicate and early aging areas on the entire face.
This is where expression lines and goosefoot wrinkles first appear. Why does this happen? The reason is the special structure: there is very little fatty tissue in the area around the eyes, and the muscle layer is also minimal. In addition, collagen fibres - proteins responsible for firmness and elasticity - are more actively destroyed here. As a result, even minor stress or improper care can quickly lead to loss of tone, dryness and early wrinkles.
How to properly care for the skin around the eyes
Gentle and gentle cleansing
- Don't rub your skin with tissues: the eye area is extremely thin, and harsh movements can further stretch it and dry it out.
- Hydrophilic oils and balms: best for gentle make-up removal. They dissolve cosmetics without aggressive friction, preserving the natural moisture balance.
Reliable protection
- Antioxidants: help fight free radicals that contribute to cell ageing.
- SPF products: ultraviolet light negatively affects collagen synthesis, causing photo-ageing. Use creams or gels with a sunscreen filter suitable for the sensitive area.
- Sunglasses: they not only save from blinding light, but also reduce the need to squint, which prevents the formation of new wrinkles.
Deep moisturisation
- Products with oils and emollients: they create a light film on the surface of the skin, "locking" moisture inside.
- Easily absorbable creams: choose formulas enriched with hyaluronic acid, natural oils or peptides that supplement the skin's own resources.
Lifestyle and proper sleep
- Get enough sleep: chronic sleep deprivation has an immediate effect on the delicate eyelid skin - dark circles, puffiness and dull colour.
- Sleepingposition: try to sleep on your back or so that your face is not pressed into the pillow. This will reduce mechanical compression and the risk of skin creases, which with regular repetition become permanent wrinkles.
Additional recommendations
- Be careful with decorative cosmetics: waterproof mascaras and liners require more intensive cleansing, which can traumatise the eye area. If possible, favour hypoallergenic options.
- Compresses and patches: cooling products can help relieve puffiness, while moisturising patches can further nourish the skin. But don't forget regular care: patches are no substitute for a systematic approach to moisturising.
Improper treatment of the skin around the eyes can accelerate the appearance of wrinkles and visible ageing. However, with proper care (gentle cleansing, sun protection, regular moisturising and healthy sleeping habits) you can maximise the youthfulness and firmness of this delicate area.
