GUR hacked the airwaves in Russia and showed the real losses of the Russian army

Cyberactivists blocked administrators' access to the servers to make it harder to interrupt the broadcast.
On the evening of 24 August, Ukraine's Independence Day, Russian television unexpectedly showed a video clip with real losses of the Russian army in the war against Ukraine and other "achievements" of the so-called "сво сво сво". According to RBC-Ukraine 's sources in the Defence Ministry's GUR, local cyber guerrillas managed to hack into a Russian provider and broadcast the video simultaneously on 116 TV channels. In addition, the attackers blocked administrators' access to the servers to make it more difficult to interrupt the broadcast.
As a result, more than 50,000 subscribers from Moscow and other regions of Russia spent more than three hours watching footage of oil refinery explosions and Russian military burials on their screens during prime time. For viewers without digital television, the broadcast was available via Apple Store, Google Play, Smart TV and other cable networks.
According to sources in the GUR, such cyberattacks allow Russians to see the truth about the war, which is radically different from the Kremlin's official propaganda. Since the start of the full-scale war, Russia itself has been the target of numerous cyberattacks, with hackers attacking government websites, media, financial and energy systems, disabling them or leaking sensitive information. Ukrainian intelligence specialists are among the active participants in these attacks.
