Germany says why Trump changed his stance on Ukraine

Diplomatic efforts on the part of European leaders have contributed to a review of US President Donald Trump's stance on the head of the Russian regime.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz played an important role in changing the position of US President Donald Trump regarding Russian leader Vladimir Putin. This was reported by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful in an interview with Bild.
According to Wadeful, the Ukrainian support from the United States was made possible, among other things, thanks to the efforts of Merz.
He took a principled position in favour of Ukraine from the very beginning - and conveyed it personally to Trump, including during his visit to the Oval Office and at the G7 summit," the minister said.
Wadeful also added that the German chancellor personally called Donald Trump and insisted on the need for US support: "The US is needed now more than ever. We can only welcome that Germany's voice is heard again in Washington."
The other day Donald Trump confirmed that the US will transfer billions of dollars worth of arms to Ukraine, with the deliveries to be financed and organised by European NATO partners. They are considering up to 17 Patriot surface-to-air missile systems.
Also, the U.S. president threatened the Kremlin with serious trade restrictions "if a peace agreement is not reached within 50 days." According to him, "Putin has misled previous administrations, but he will not be fooled by this one"
