Berlin accelerates army rearmament: Germany is preparing for a possible military threat from Russia.

Germany is stepping up efforts to modernise its army in order to be fully prepared for potential aggression from Russia by 2029. This was stated by Annette Lenigk-Emden, head of the Federal Armaments Procurement Office of the Bundeswehr, in an interview with Tagesspiegel.

According to her, German military strategists believe that in 2029 Russia may either launch an offensive against Europe or reach a level of readiness that would allow the realisation of such a threat. In this regard, Berlin plans to complete the rearmament of the Bundeswehr already by 2028, so that the army has time to adapt and prepare for the use of new equipment.

In fact, we do not have four years, but only three," emphasised Lenigk-Emden. - By the end of 2028, everything necessary must be purchased, because the soldiers must master the new equipment. We have the will, we have the goal, and our motto now is "We will procure it!"," she said.

She added that the department is reforming internal processes to speed up decision-making and overcome years of bureaucratic inertia in defence procurement.

Preparations for a possible military scenario are taking place against a backdrop of heightened attention to Europe's security and calls for EU countries to strengthen defence capabilities amid an unstable international environment.
