Germany has admitted the possibility of a defensive war
There will be no return to the times before the big Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Germany may have to enter a defensive war, so it is necessary to correct the shortcomings in the preparation of the German armed forces for the defence of the country and NATO. This was stated by Bundeswehr Inspector General Carsten Breuer, writes Tagesschau.
Now we see a Bundeswehr that is not yet sufficiently prepared for this," he pointed out.
Speaking about the danger that could threaten Europe, he pointed to Russia and explained that he was concerned about the way Russia is "arming itself at the moment" and how President Vladimir Putin is positioning himself.
He stressed that there will be no return to the times before the big Russian invasion of Ukraine and Germany must get used to the idea that "one day we may have to fight a defensive war."
At the same time, he expressed confidence that the Bundeswehr would be able to cope with a possible Russian attack on NATO if the Kremlin decides to expand its war zone in the West after a possible end to the war in Ukraine.
We have no alternative. We can defend ourselves, and we will defend ourselves," Breuer said.
We would like to point out that a number of experts in the West believe that Russia, having built up its military potential, will be ready to invade Europe in a few years.
