In the alleged assassination attempt, the FSB found a "Ukrainian trace".

The Russian Federal Security Service has said that it has prevented the murder of pro-Kremlin propagandists Margarita Simonyan and Kseniya Sobchak. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

According to the Russian Federation, the murders were allegedly prepared by "Ukrainian special services" and "neo-Nazis from the Paragraph-88 group" were detained as part of the case.

The detentions took place in the Ryazan and Moscow regions. The detainees allegedly monitored the addresses where the propagandists lived.

A Kalashnikov assault rifle with ammunition, rubber truncheons, knives, brass knuckles and handcuffs were seized from the detainees," pro-Kremlin media reported.

The number of detainees was not specified.

The FSB said that the detainees were allegedly preparing assassination attempts "on the instructions of the SBU" for a reward of 1.5 million rubles for each murder.

The Russian Investigative Committee plans to launch criminal cases with "extremist and terrorist colouring" against the detainees.
