In the evening of 11 August 2024, about 20:00, a fire was recorded on the territory of Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant

"Energoatom" reports that the fire is not related to the nuclear reactor itself, the fire is occurring at a technical water supply facility, cooling tower number one (a structure for cooling steam). It is located at a distance of about a kilometre from the NPP power units.

According to Energoatom, the cooling tower is used by the Russian occupants as a storage facility for military equipment and ammunition. The fire could have been caused by the occupants' negligence or deliberate arson.
