Famous journalist and film director Yaroslav Shapochka died at the frontline

In March 2023, he took part in the battles on the Soledar direction in Donetsk region. A recent DNA examination confirmed his death. This was reported by his colleague Alina Khoroshylova, referring to the wife of the fighter.

Unfortunately, the worst fears were confirmed - Yaroslav Shapochka fell in battle, becoming forever a guardian of heaven. Eternal memory and glory to the Hero. About the details of the farewell will be reported later, - wrote Khoroshilova.

Serving in the 207th battalion of the AFU, Yaroslav was missing in action in March 2023. During a combat mission, the infantry fighting vehicle he was in blew up. He was 50 years old.

With the beginning of full-scale war Yaroslav joined the Kiev Territorial Defence Brigade. He served in the 2nd rifle company of the 207th separate battalion of the territorial defence (Shevchenkivsky district of Kiev) of the 241st separate brigade of the AFU.

Before serving in the army, Shapochka was a journalist for the Fakty publication, as well as an artist and social activist. He was born in Kiev, graduated from the Institute of Journalism of the Kyiv National University named after T. Shevchenko, worked as a film director and photographer.

The deceased defender was left with a wife and a daughter.
