- Explosive technicians showed video of destruction of "petal" mines in Kherson region

Explosive technicians collect "petal" mines with the help of a special rod into a pre-prepared depression in the ground and destroy them by detonation.
In the Kherson region, police explosive technicians neutralise anti-personnel mines "petals". The corresponding video was published by the National Police on 1 March.
Specialists of the explosive service clear the de-occupied territory from various kinds of Russian ammunition. Among them are anti-personnel landmines "PFM-1S" and "PFM-1", which are called "petals" or "butterflies". Hundreds of people have already suffered from the explosion of these rather "sensitive" and low-visibility mines on the ground," the police said.
It is noted that these anti-personnel mines are almost invisible in the grass or bushes, they are small in size, in plastic cases of green or brown colour.
Some of them do not have a self-destruct mechanism, so they can lie on the ground for long periods of time until a person steps on them or a vehicle runs over them. "Petals" from above are covered with sand, soil particles and carry a hidden danger not only for people, but also for animals," the report says.
Specialists find them during demining with the help of special equipment. Such mines are scattered from cluster munitions. A cluster shell can contain from 36 to 72 mines.
Most often these mines can be found exactly where the fighting took place, or where there was shelling by multiple rocket launchers.
In the Kherson region, police explosive technicians collect dangerous "petals" with the help of a special rod in a pre-prepared hole in the ground and destroy them by controlled detonation.
When police officers collected five "petal mines" on the territory of a private household in Berislav district, one of them exploded during transportation with the boom. The explosive technician was not injured, as he adhered to safety rules.
The mines were defused Volyn explosive technicians of the police, who work as part of a combined unit in Kherson region - Victor Masyuk, Andriy Golyadinets and Yuriy Yushchyk, - noted in the police.
Police remind, if you come across such ammunition - stop, consider whether there are no similar objects nearby, move away to a safe distance and call the police.
Never pick up or carry such objects. In the event of an explosion of "petal mines", victims can be severely injured or have limbs amputated.
