Ex-law enforcer recruited by the FSB received life imprisonment

Thanks to the evidence of the SBU and the GBI, an FSB agent who operated in Kharkiv region was given a life sentence.
A former police officer from Kharkiv Region who worked for the FSB has been sentenced to life imprisonment on the materials of the SBU and the State Security Service of Ukraine. This was reported by the SBU on 31 January.
The agent transferred locations of military and critical infrastructure in the frontline region to the occupants. According to his coordinates, Russian troops carried out repeated missile and artillery strikes.
SBU counterintelligence officers detained the Russian agent in May 2022 when he was crossing a checkpoint near the regional centre. Then three live grenades were seized from his car.
The court sentenced the attacker to a capital punishment - life imprisonment," the SBU said.
The convict is a former operative of the local police unit, who was in office at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. Then he was remotely recruited by a FSB personnel officer.
The occupants used his brother from the Russian Federation - an ex-officer of the Russian special unit "Omon" - to attract the policeman to co-operation.
Based on the collected evidence, the court found the Russian agent guilty under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: part 2 of article 111 (high treason committed under martial law); part 1 of article 263 (possession of ammunition). 1 of Article 263 (storage of military ammunition without legal authorisation).
