Ex-CIA chief says what the end of the war in Ukraine depends on
The U.S. response to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine was "pretty impressive," although some decisions Washington could have made more quickly, Petraeus said.
The former director of the US Central Intelligence Agency, General David Petraeus, has said that the timing of the end of the war will depend on how quickly Ukrainian defenders receive the weapons promised by the allies. He said this at the AtlanticCouncil event, noting that the US response to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine was "quite impressive", but stressed that Washington could have made decisions faster.
Petraeus said the US response to the Russian invasion came as a surprise to Putin, as he had not expected such opposition to his invasion ambitions from other countries.
The general said that he would not predict how the war would end, but stressed that the Ukrainian army needed to be armed.
We would like to point out that David Petraeus supports the Ukrainian army's war tactics. In his opinion, the AFU creates the necessary tactical conditions on the battlefield to make further progress in the counter-offensive and destroy the enemy's defensive lines.
He is also convinced that the F-16 multi-role fighter jets will influence the course of the war and will be able to help the Ukrainians advance.
