Experts told how the cost of borscht has increased in Ukraine

The cost of borscht increased significantly after the start of the war.
In Ukraine, a serving of borscht for four people, prepared according to a traditional recipe, will cost UAH 92.49. During the month and a half of the war, the price of borscht increased by 13.02%. This is evidenced by the "borscht index" from the experts of the Good Regulation Office (BRDO).
Specialists noted that all the ingredients of the dish, except for white cabbage, have risen in price. Meat added the most in price (+21.33%). Next on the price scale are potatoes (+14.53%), carrots (+13.39%) and sour cream (+9.11%).
The price of cabbage decreased by 5.38%. In addition, the price of beets barely rose (+3.01%).
In the long run, inflationary pressures will rise.
The loss of export earnings will lead to a significant decrease in the profitability of producers, who will subsequently try to compensate for the losses. Also, the prices will be affected by the rapid growth of logistics costs, the cost of energy resources, seeds and fertilizers, the report says.
