Ukrainian defender Serhiy Mushyk was awarded the highest honour - the title "Gold Star" of the Hero of Ukraine.

He repelled more than 10 enemy assaults and continued to carry out the task on the front line despite losses among his brothers and serious injuries. Yuriy Bolokhovetskyy, director of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine", told about it on his Facebook page.

For the first time the award was presented by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, noting that thanks to such heroes as Serhiy Mushyk, Ukraine maintains its independence. Serhiy, who in his peaceful life worked as a forester, volunteered to join the AFU after the full-scale invasion began.

He held positions near Kleshchyivka, Bakhmut district, alone for two months, despite severe wounds and chemical poisoning from which he refused to evacuate. During this period he helped himself and continued to fight.

Sergei received the award from the hands of the President and, after returning home for a few hours, handed it over to his mother, noting that he considered it not a feat but his duty. After that, he returned to the front line again.

At the same time, horrific events continue on the frontline, as reported by Russian sources. In published videos, Russians claim that four Ukrainian defenders in the Kursk region may have been beheaded by putting their heads on stakes. The footage has been circulated on social media, revealing the brutality of the war and the crimes against the Ukrainian military.
