China and Brazil issued a statement on the war in Ukraine


Representatives of the two countries met on the margins of the Munich Security Conference on 15 February.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and the chief foreign policy adviser to Brazilian President Celso Amorim made a joint statement on the war in Ukraine following a meeting on the margins of the Munich Security Conference. This was reported by the press service of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
At the same time, both sides did not mention Russian aggression, but called the brutal war in Ukraine a "crisis".
China and Brazil fully endorse the work of the Friends of Peace group and will continue to play a constructive role in promoting a political settlement of the "Ukrainian crisis"," the statement said.
The document also said that China and Brazil are "great world states and representatives of the Global South, which together make a positive contribution to promoting world peace, stability and development".
Representatives of China said that they are ready to deepen cooperation with Brazil, as well as jointly support countries that develop.
As a reminder, on 23 May 2024, the governments of Brazil and China issued a joint statement on resolving the war between Russia and Ukraine, advocating political negotiations to achieve peace.
