Bundeswehr inspector general says when Russia could attack NATO

The Russian Army is rapidly increasing the number of personnel and weapons.
The Russian army is significantly strengthening its troops, increasing both the number of personnel and the number of weapons, which poses a potential threat to NATO. This was stated by Bundeswehr Inspector General Carsten Breuer in an interview with the German publication Welt.
He noted that next year, the Russian armed forces could double in size to 1.5 million troops. Breuer also pointed out that about 1,500 battle tanks are either re-manufactured or reconditioned from stockpiles each year, which is twice as many as needed to fight with Ukraine. He added that Russia's ammunition depots are being actively replenished.
Russia could be ready for a large-scale conventional attack on NATO territory by 2029, Bundeswehr Inspector General Carsten Breuer said.
In his opinion, Russia's goal, under the leadership of Vladimir Putin, is to weaken and destroy NATO and undermine Western values. He also pointed out that NATO countries must be prepared for such a war.
My main task is to accelerate the preparation of troops to full operational readiness using all available resources. We will first look for equipment in Germany and Europe, and if we don't have it, we will have to buy it from the United States, if it is available there. 2029 is our date, and we must be ready for it," the general said.
At the same time, he noted that the U.S., in his opinion, will remain a NATO ally and will help repel enemy attacks. According to him, he saw that "the chiefs of staff of all NATO countries are getting closer to each other.
They are trying to close ranks, consulting and exchanging analyses much more than in previous years," Breuer assured.
