Today the bodies of 50 dead defenders have been returned to Ukraine.
This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
Today, following the results of repatriation measures, the Ukrainian side managed to return the bodies (remains) of 50 dead (deceased) defenders of Ukraine to the controlled territory," the statement said.
Proper and safe transportation of the bodies of the dead defenders for "transfer to representatives of law enforcement agencies and forensic experts in order to organise and conduct investigations and forensic examinations" is provided by the AFU.
It is noted that the repatriation activities are carried out by the Coordination Headquarters together with the Joint Centre under the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (the Central Department of the Central Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs) in Sumy region, the State Tax Service of Ukraine, other representations of the structures of the security and defence sector of Ukraine, as well as with the assistance and participation of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
