There is a widespread belief among the German public that migration rates must decline.

Almost three attacks on refugees per day have occurred in Germany since the beginning of 2024. This is reported by the newspaper Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung with reference to data from the federal government.

Thus, in the first six months of this year, the police recorded 519 attacks on refugees across Germany. In addition, there were 69 attacks on refugee shelters.

According to investigators, in 88% of cases the attackers were guided by extreme right-wing views.

It is noted that in 2023, 2,450 attacks were recorded, most of them fell on Saxony and Thuringia in the east of Germany.

It is known that under the policy of "culture of hospitality" Germany has received more than 1.2 million refugees and asylum seekers.

Currently, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is under serious pressure from a number of political parties to reduce the growth in the number of asylum seekers in the country, as there is growing dissatisfaction with the way the government is handling the refugee situation. According to the Chancellor, it is necessary to facilitate deportations, toughen sanctions for human traffickers and restore temporary border controls.

The newspaper notes that 44% of Germans consider illegal immigration to be the most important political problem in Germany, to which politicians should give priority attention.
