The four offenders paid US$4,000 each for crossing the border, but fell victim to the con artists.

In Odessa Region near the border with Moldova, the Izmail border guard detachment detained infiltrators. Three of them were wearing cassocks. As it turned out, the offenders themselves became victims of swindlers. This is reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

During the clarification of circumstances it turned out that of the three "bishops" only one is a cleric who belongs to the Church with the governing centre in the aggressor country - Russia. It was he who provided a church outfit for his two travelling companions, - reported in the GPSU.

According to the detainees for transport across the border, they paid 4 thousand US dollars each. To arouse less suspicion on the way they put on church clothes.

A boat met them on the shore of Lake Cahul. The ferryman took the men to the opposite shore of the lake and directed them to the window lights of the nearest village.

The boatman assured that it was Moldova, but in fact he transported the woeful offenders between two Ukrainian settlements separated by the lake," the border guards said.

The detainees were charged with administrative offences under Article 204-1 of the Ukrainian Administrative Offences Code "Illegal crossing or attempted illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine".
