The former head of Donetsk Regional State Administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, is under suspicion of illegally enriching himself by 56 million hryvnias

on 14 August, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) filed charges against Pavlo Kyrylenko, chairman of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, for illegal enrichment worth 56.2m hryvnyas.

The law enforcement agencies did not name the official, but according to the description of the position mentioned in the investigation and according to the sources of the Schemes project, it is the head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine according to the description of the position mentioned in the investigation and according to the sources of the Schemes project, it is the head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, Pavlo Kyrylenko, former head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration.

Journalists of the programme "Schemes" released information about a sudden increase in the assets of the Kirilenko family in the period from 2020 to 2023. The journalists revealed that during the war the official's family acquired luxury real estate and cars, the total value of which exceeds his official income and his relatives, who in addition have no business.

The property, a total of 21 real estate objects, including seven flats in Kiev and Uzhgorod with a total area of 688 square metres, a house of 200 square metres, two land plots near Kiev, six parking spaces, as well as a luxury car BMW X3, are registered to relatives of Kirilenko's wife. The family's legitimate income did not allow them to make such purchases, which became the basis for suspicions of illicit enrichment.

Despite Kirilenko's high position and his closeness to the country's leadership, the anti-corruption authorities launched an investigation the day after the journalistic material was published.

Pavel Kirilenko stated that the source of his family's wealth was the start-up capital received back in the 90s, but he did not provide documentary evidence of this. His relatives were also unable to document the origin of such a sum of money, claiming that "everything was left in occupied Horlivka", where they used to live.
