Ambassadors of UNITED24 met with the President, visited the de-occupied territories of the Kyiv region, and announced the launch of the UNITED24 youth program. Its first participants will be the sons of Shevchenko and Schreiber.

On August 15, UNITED24 ambassadors, American actor Liev Schreiber, and Ukrainian football legend Andriy Shevchenko met for the first time in Kyiv.

After getting to know each other, they went to the Office of the President of Ukraine, where they discussed with Volodymyr Zelensky further plans to raise funds, projects for Independence Day, and ways to keep the attention of the world community after almost six months of the war. In particular, the ambassadors announced the launch of the UNITED24 youth program; its goal is to attract active youth worldwide to support Ukraine.

My eldest son Jordan worries about Ukraine with all his heart,” said Andriy Shevchenko. “From the first days of the war, he has been asking how he and his friends can help Ukraine. I am delighted that he will be one of the first participants in the UNITED24 youth program, which offers young people around the world different levels of engagement and scenarios of what can be done, from social media outreach to global engagement of school and university communities.

As part of the visit, UNITED24 ambassadors visited Makarov and Borodyanka, the suburbs of Kyiv that suffered the most during the full-scale Russian invasion. Shevchenko and Schreiber visited the destroyed Makarovsky kindergarten, met with people who lost their homes and now live in a modular city in Borodyanka, and also made a surprise and came to the training of the local children's football team.

This is my third time in Ukraine, but the first time in Kyiv since the invasion. I knew that I would see destruction and pain during this journey, but the real discovery for me was the people, - says Liev Schreiber. I didn't expect to meet so many amazing people. Despite everything that has happened to them over the past few months, people are ready to restore their well-being and the lives and homes of their neighbors. People who, despite everything, joke, are treated to pickles and fresh jam cooked in a temporary kitchen a hundred meters from the place; five months ago, it was the main street of Borodyanka. Such grit and resilience are unique qualities that will always define the Ukrainian people for me.

The long day ended with filming the UNITED24 video scripted by Schreiber himself. The next morning, the American actor went to Lviv. Andriy Shevchenko was planning other trips around Ukraine the other day.
