Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has discussed security and defence cooperation with UAE leader Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The parties agreed to jointly protect critical infrastructure and share Ukrainian experience against air threats amid escalation in the region.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the leader of the United Arab Emirates, Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during his visit to Abu Dhabi and discussed strengthening the security and defence of the two countries. This was reported by the press service of the Office of the President.

The leaders discussed threats from Iran, the blocking of the Strait of Hormuz and the impact of these factors on the global oil market. Zelensky emphasised that Ukraine is ready for long-term cooperation with the Emirates to strengthen both states and protect people's lives.

The sides paid special attention to critical and social infrastructure protection systems, investments and joint production of defence solutions. Zelensky noted that Ukraine has practical experience in protecting cities during war and is ready to share its experience with partners. According to the president, a team of Ukrainian experts has been working in the UAE for several weeks already, helping to integrate Ukrainian solutions for air defence and strengthening of critical infrastructure.

Our common goal is more security. Ukraine not only needs help, but is ready to support those who support us," Zelenskyy emphasised.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to further develop cooperation in defence and security. The teams of Ukraine and the UAE continue to finalise the details of the agreements, and Ukrainian experience in defending against air threats will become a key element of the integration of security systems in the Emirates.

The situation in the region remains tense, with Iran recently attacking the port of Fujairah with drones and hits near Dubai airport. Despite this, air traffic continues, but security threats to civilian infrastructure remain high.
