A European country says it is ready to help hold elections in Ukraine after the war

The UK is taking on the role of Ukraine's partner in preparing for the elections, which will be an important step towards rebuilding civilian institutions in the aftermath of the conflict.
After the end of the war with Russia, the UK will help Ukraine to hold its first election, the Express has said.
It is said that as part of the agreement between the countries, the election commissions of both countries signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening the Ukrainian electoral system and increasing its transparency.
The Central Electoral Commission of Ukraine stressed that the agreement would allow for the exchange of experience, introduction of best practices and strengthening of democratic values in the country, Express wrote.
The commission noted that the document is of particular importance because the cooperation covers not only the organisational aspects of voting, but also countering disinformation and supporting Ukrainian citizens who continue to stay outside the country in refugee status. As the newspaper stresses, "concerns about possible Russian interference in the election will inevitably affect the organisation of the electoral process".
The UK's assistance may touch upon the issues of financing the security of ballot papers and protection of candidates. The chairman of the Ukrainian Central Electoral Commission, Oleh Didenko, said that the memorandum "will give an opportunity to prepare for the most complicated election in the country's history in the best possible quality and efficiency".
