The Russian-controlled "Supreme Court of the DNR" has imprisoned 33 Ukrainian prisoners of war for terms ranging from 27 to 29 years.

This was reported by Radio Liberty.

The "DNR" militants accused 33 Ukrainian servicemen from the 36th Marine Brigade of the Ukrainian Navy and the 17th Tank Brigade of the AFU of "cruel treatment of civilians, murder motivated by hatred and hostility, attempted murder of two or more persons, as well as intentional damage to other people's property in a generally dangerous way".

The Ukrainian defenders were sentenced to 27 to 29 years in a strict regime colony.

The prosecution states that allegedly the Ukrainian military, at the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, shelled residential houses in the settlements of Sartana, Sakhanka, Talakovka and Stariy Krym in Donetsk region. Subsequently, one person was killed and another was injured.

The Russian Investigative Committee also gave the names of some of those convicted.
