Crane said he wanted to wake up the Russians so that they would feel for themselves what it is like to wake up at night to sirens:

I want to wake them up in a double sense, both physically and by the fact that they are jointly responsible for this war.

Crane noted that he fears the Norwegian public's attention to the invasion could fade. He is willing to go to great lengths to avoid this.

He also added that he is prepared to pay a fine or be arrested. He has warned his neighbours of his plot.

Crane stressed:

I am worried that we are accepting the war. It is a moral act and I am ready to be arrested.
