Zelensky spoke at the World Economic Forum in Davos

The Ukrainian president said that Ukraine should gain an advantage in the air just as it has gained an advantage in the Black Sea.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed a special session of the World Economic Forum in Davos on 16 January. This is stated on the website of the Office of the President.
At the beginning of his speech, Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the full-scale war in Europe had been going on for almost two years. If we count the time since Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea, it is almost ten years.
And it's been almost ten years since Russia intervened in African countries from Sudan to Mali. The Syrian war, which is still bleeding because of Putin's decision to prove something to the world, has been going on for almost 13 years.
In fact, one man has stolen at least 13 years of peace, replacing them with pain and crises that affect the whole world. If we have to fight Putin together in the coming years, wouldn't it be better to put an end to him and his military strategy now, while our brave men and women are already doing it? They are a chance for the whole world," Zelensky said.
He stated that "if anyone thinks that this is only about Ukraine, he is deeply mistaken. The possible directions and even the temporal boundaries of new Russian aggression outside Ukraine are becoming more and more obvious."
Let me ask you very honestly: what European country today can provide a combat-ready army on par with ours that is deterring Russia? And how many men and women are your countries ready to send to the defence of another state, another nation? - zelensky asked.
He emphasised that time had been lost because of the call not to provoke escalation. The lives of many Ukrainian experienced warriors who have been fighting since 2014 were lost. Some opportunities were missed.
Everyone thought that Russia had missiles that could not be shot down. "Patriots shoot down everything. Many feared the consequences if Ukraine got long-range weapons. Russia would only suffer heavy losses as a result. We heard that Russia would never allow the creation of a "grain corridor" without its participation. Almost 16 million tonnes of cargo have been transported from our ports," the President of Ukraine said.
He said that Ukraine should gain an advantage in the air just as it gained an advantage on the Black Sea.
We can do it. Partners know what is needed and in what quantities. This will allow us to make progress on the ground," Zelensky said.
He emphasised that just two days ago Ukraine proved that it can hit even very valuable Russian warplanes, which no one had shot down before.
Zelensky also noted that the obvious weakness of the West is that Russia's nuclear industry is still not under global sanctions, even though Putin is the only terrorist in the world who has taken a nuclear power plant hostage.
We can defeat him on the ground. We have proven it. And at sea, and in the sky. We are increasing the production of weapons. We have achieved economic growth in Ukraine, our GDP is growing - despite the war by more than 5 per cent last year. We got a decision on EU accession negotiations. And we are normalising the idea that aggressions can be defeated - even Putin's aggressions, which have been going on for a decade or more. Now! We are! And these days right here in this magical country, in Switzerland, we have made a key political contribution to the possibility of ending the war," Zelensky said.
He noted that the most representative meeting of national security advisers on the implementation of the Peace Formula was held. More than 80 countries and international institutions were represented.
And I invite every leader and every country that respects peace and international law to join us.
Together we can answer any important questions. And they will be the best answers. Peace must be the answer," summarised Vladimir Zelensky.
